A poem written by a veterans daughter:

YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN

What can we do to commend you, the unforgettable ones...
Who boldly fought to give me the chance to become someone...
You were a young man not much older than I...
Forced to grow old by watching your
brothers and friends waiting to die...
There was nothing you could do,
but hold their hands and reach out to GOD and pray...
Your face and words are what helped
them find peace as they passed away...
Many hard times and cold nights you came to know...
There was nothing you could do but, live day by day
as you heard every soldiers scream
with the enemies unexpected blow...
No one can begin to understand the hell you went through...
Except those who lived through the pain and torture with you...
I know you had sleepless nights filled with tears and fear...
Wondering if you would live another
hour, day, month, or year...
You had to stay strong to keep the others alive...
So they could go home to their
mothers, fathers, children and wives...
Many men never made it home
Instead they were left in that jungle,
cold, dead, and alone...
May all their souls rest in peace...
Because now they are set free, from war
that man killing beast...
Their names are marked on a cold black wall
for all to remember...
Their pain and suffering that
one little memory can trigger...
Not one man that fought in Viet Nam
was given the credit he deserved...
Instead when he came home he was spit upon
and forced to watch his flag being burned...
You fought hard for a country that you love
And there is not one man that I
can say I am more proud of...
I LOVE YOU DADDY
